Given Hull and the East Riding's unique experiences with flooding, we're carrying out surveys to find out what people know about flooding and how they feel about it, as a follow-up of surveys completed in 2018/19.

These insights enable Living With Water to measure the impact of our work in the local area and to improve our approach.

2025 Living with Water Household Survey

2025 Living with Water Household Survey

Hundreds of respondents took part in our surveys in 2018/19, sharing experiences of flooding and reflecting on the devastating impacts of the floods including the damage caused, difficulties in recovery, health and wellbeing impacts on themselves and their families, impacts on the local community and the fatality in Hessle.

We want to know how people's attitudes to, and experiences of, flooding have changed since then, and to monitor and evaluate the work of Living with Water to reduce the impacts of flooding and increase resilience. This will also inform how we work with communities in the future.

Previous Flooding Surveys

You can find reports detailing the results of previous household surveys on our website.

A summary report for the study highlighted over a third of households surveyed have yet to take measures to better protect themselves from future flood events.

At Living with Water, it is our goal to continuously push for better preparedness and flood resilience in local communities. These surveys are critical to our work.

We had to deal on our own with the physical emotional and practical issues of seeing your family home destroyed.
